Charters are located in and leave from Orange Beach, Fort Morgan and Dauphin Island. Gulf Shores is a favorite destination, but there is no actual port to leave from. Fishermen staying in Gulf Shores commonly search for charters in around Orange Beach which is only 8 miles east. The most abundant choices of rent boats are located in Orange Beach. Orange Beach is the most logical place to start searching because most citizen come to the area on vacation and fishing is one of the most favorite activities. Fort Morgan also gets some traffic and is growing every year. Dauphin Island has long been a place where locals go but is not favorable for those staying in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach.

There are two types of rent boats. They are six passenger and multi-passenger boats. Six pack boats, also called uninspected boats, carry a maximum of six passengers for hire. That does not mean they are small or unsafe. It means that they are naturally not inspected by the Coast Guard. These boats can be as small as a single gas engine outboard all the way up to a 50 foot or larger, twin diesel boat.
Six passenger boats commonly give more one on one aid because of the small number of passengers on board. Six passenger fishing boats commonly catch as good a fish as their inspected counterparts on similar length trips.

Multi-passenger boats commonly have a flat rate for secret charters up to 10 passengers on each rent and then payment 10% of that price for every person over the flat rate minimum.
